My work is rooted in a passion for blending mathematics, physics and emotion. With a background in computer science engineering and entrepreneurship, I write algorithms that produce organic patterns, released as long-form generative series. I say algorithmic art where the field has long said generative art: the two describe the same practice, but generative AI has made the older term ambiguous to anyone outside it. 96 works, of which 23 are long-form generative projects. 9,539 editions collected, more than 8,000 of them unique outputs, on Tezos, Ethereum, Bitcoin and Degen — through fxhash, gm.studio, Bright Moments, 256ART, SuperRare Labs, hic et nunc and EditArt. What follows is a selection. ## Exhibitions and drops ### 2025 - [**Gradient**](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/gradient-2025/) — EditArt, Tezos. The original,* [*Art génératif : de la découverte à la publication d'un projet dans un studio prestigieux*](https://www.camilleroux.com/art-generatif-de-la-decouverte-a-la-publication-dun-projet-dans-un-studio-prestigieux/?ref=art.camilleroux.com)*, is on my personal site.* *One deliberate change in this version: where the French says "art génératif", this one says algorithmic art. The meaning of "generative art" has not changed, but since generative AI took over the word, people who do not know the field tend to assume my projects are made with AI.* You know by now that I am a curious person. I love discovering new disciplines and spending months or years exploring them. I have written before about music production, vegetarianism and the electric guitar. Here I want to write about the passion that has taken up most of my time these past few years: algorithmic art. From my first scripts producing simple animations, to a show in New York and a drop (a project launch, in our jargon) with one of the most demanding studios in the field, this is the story of an adventure I did not see coming. *Edit: after this piece was published in French, I was invited to give the closing keynote of DevFest Toulouse 2023 on the subject.* Here is a more recent version, presented at MiXiT 2025. ## What is algorithmic art? Algorithmic art is artistic creation, usually digital, that uses algorithms to produce work which generates itself or is not determined in advance. I will also talk about creative coding, which is a broader definition. It means using programming as a medium of artistic expression in its own right: visual, musical, literary, interactive, performative. ## Discovering creative coding, and first steps on Hic Et Nunc It starts on the day I decide I want to learn to draw. I have no skill at it whatsoever, but I am curious. I like the idea of a new passion disconnected from screens. I picture myself with a notebook and a pencil at a café terrace. I ask an artist friend to give me a lesson. Her lesson is great, but unsurprisingly I quickly realise I have everything to learn and that the road is long. Before long I want to make more geometric drawings, then to work on an iPad with Procreate to compensate for my lack of dexterity, then to do vector drawing, and then I go back to my computer to code what I had been trying to make. That is how I take my first steps in creative coding. I start with [p5.js](https://p5js.org/?ref=art.camilleroux.com), a JavaScript library, probably the most widely used, especially by beginners. You could describe it as Microsoft Paint, but in JavaScript. There are plenty of [tutorials](https://p5js.org/tutorials/?ref=art.camilleroux.com), a thorough [reference](https://p5js.org/reference/?ref=art.camilleroux.com), books, an [online editor](https://editor.p5js.org/?ref=art.camilleroux.com). I start playing with mathematics, physics, the classic algorithms of the field, noise, randomness. ![One of my very first sketches in p5.js](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/image-11.webp) One of my very first attempts in p5.js As I sink further into creative programming, I start following a lot of artists on Instagram and Twitter, learning from their work and experimenting with my own ideas. It is a period of exploration and discovery. This is when I make my first drops on [Hic Et Nunc](https://teia.art/camilleroux?ref=art.camilleroux.com). I begin by publishing perfect loops, animations that repeat endlessly. To my great surprise those first drops are well received, and I start getting valuable feedback from my very first collectors. 0:00 /0:00 1× Animated Rays 01, on Hic Et Nunc ## Discovering long-form, and first drops on fx(hash) From here on I will mostly be talking about long-form, a format popularised by platforms like [Art Blocks](https://www.artblocks.io/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) and fx(hash). The concept works like this: The artist writes a generative script, which is recorded on a blockchain, making it permanent, immutable and verifiable. The artist then specifies how many iterations, or pieces, can be created from that script, usually a few hundred. When a collector buys an iteration, the script runs to generate a new piece, which is wrapped in an NFT and transferred directly to the collector. When the script runs, nobody knows exactly what will come out of it: not the collector, not the platform, not the artist. It is a surprise for everyone. I publish, or drop, my first long-form projects on [fx(hash)](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Camille%20Roux?ref=art.camilleroux.com) very shortly after it opens. The first one is [SEA](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/sea/): a very simple project, made in a few days, from which I learn an enormous amount. 150 animated editions, built quickly just to play with fx(hash). The pieces find collectors quickly. I talk to some of them and meet nothing but lovely people, as amused as I am at watching what everyone is doing with these platforms, at being spectators to all this ferment and creativity, and generally well informed about algorithmic art and NFTs. That is how I end up publishing some fifteen projects on the platform in a few months. Each time I try new techniques, question the aesthetics, test new concepts. ![My fx(hash) profile, showing a grid of published projects](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/www-fxhash-xyz_u_camille20roux.webp) My fx(hash) profile Let me tell you about two projects I am particularly attached to. ### BRIDGE [BRIDGE](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/bridge/) is a collaborative project for which I published the code on GitHub and invited any artist who wanted to contribute. It is a long-form project of 520 editions. The concept is simple: write a piece of code that draws a bridge in p5.js, respecting the given positions of the deck slabs. Each minted piece has a default style, but the collector can cycle through all 26 styles on their bridge. The project introduced me to several artists I still talk to. It is fascinating to see the diversity of styles that came out of identical constraints. ### ARTERIA I also want to mention [ARTERIA](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/arteria/), probably the fx(hash) project I am proudest of so far. It has 333 editions. At that point I wanted to take more time, to attempt more complex and more considered projects. There is a [making-of](https://immutablecollective.art/writing/arteria-making-of/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) describing how it works and how it came about in detail. The name ARTERIA means "artery" in old Occitan. The project is an exploration of autonomous agents: entities that follow a set of simple rules, here in order to draw paths. In ARTERIA the agents have a default behaviour: they move straight ahead, they reproduce, and they die when they meet the trajectory of another agent. As they move they draw small circles. The system starts from dozens of random initial parameters: level of recursion, position and size of the agents, colours, birth angle, distribution. The possibilities are endless. Local rules can then be applied on top. All the agents in the upper half might slowly turn, for instance. The final result is the product of the initial parameters, the interactions between agents, and the local rules. It is a piece about the beauty and complexity that can emerge from simple rules and autonomous interaction. 0:00 /0:00 1× ARTERIA #166 ## "I would have liked to be an artist" The ARTERIA drop is a success on fx(hash). I start having collectors who follow my work closely, who buy and share my projects, who advise and support me. It makes me want even more to take my time, to keep working on the aesthetics, to build richer and more complex generators. It is getting serious. Here is a podcast recorded in June 2022 in which I am interviewed by Lucie-Eleonore Riveron, CEO of the Paris auction house FauveParis. I talk about how I got here, but also about the impostor syndrome that makes it hard for me to think of myself as an artist, about the preconceptions I carry about "real artists", and about what I want to do next. fx(hash), which I have talked about at length, is an open platform: anyone can post a project whenever they want, and there is a great deal of excellent work on it. But there are many others. Some are equally open; others require the project to be selected by a curation panel. Platforms like [gm.studio](https://www.gmstudio.art/?ref=art.camilleroux.com), or Art Blocks with its Curated section, can be extremely demanding. So I set myself a challenge: could I too land a drop with one of the platforms I keep admiring from a distance? ## FOLRADURA I keep experimenting with a new long-form project, [FOLRADURA](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/folradura/), published on [256ART](https://256art.com/artist/camilleroux?ref=art.camilleroux.com). It explores the creation of organic patterns through a mix of mathematics, physics, noise and chance. ![FOLRADURA #2, organic patterns built from local modifiers](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/image-12.webp) FOLRADURA #2 FOLRADURA rests on one main concept: local modifiers. A modifier applies a local effect, an attraction for instance, to a grid of hundreds of thousands of points. What you see is the path of those points, between their initial and their final position. Each edition plays with one or two types of modifier. They can be placed in different ways, sometimes randomly, sometimes on a grid. Each produces very different effects depending on its configuration and on its type: squares, spirals, lines, waves. Every point is influenced by every modifier. All that complexity produces a very organic look and a great deal of detail. The project was a success, and it showed the aesthetics and complexity that can emerge from simple rules and autonomous interaction. There is a [making-of](https://immutablecollective.art/writing/folradura-the-making-of/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) if you want more. > FOLRADURA > My first long-form series on Ethereum and my first series on 256ART, launching on 9 July 6pm CEST. > > ➡️ Win a free mint! > > To participate: > 📌 Follow me and [@Mint256ART](https://x.com/Mint256ART?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=art.camilleroux.com) > 📌 RT this post > 📌 Reply with your ETH address > > Good luck! The name [INTRICADA](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/intricada/) means "interlaced" in old Occitan. The project explores the balance between emergence and control, a recurring theme in algorithmic art. INTRICADA is built on autonomous agents similar to those in ARTERIA. The agents draw very small dots and follow simple rules. I designed INTRICADA as a simulation: set initial conditions, then watch what comes out. Each piece is the result of thousands of unforeseeable consequences. What makes INTRICADA singular is the sheer variety of possible outcomes. Many parameters influence the initial position and direction of the agents, the colour palettes, and much else. Every combination produces a genuinely distinct result. INTRICADA offers a visual experience on several scales. From a distance a piece can look like intersecting circles, like geometric patterns, like confetti. Closer, you see that those shapes are made of a multitude of agent trajectories. Closer still, you see that those trajectories are made of dots, several hundred thousand per output. INTRICADA was dropped as an open edition, meaning there was no limit on the number of pieces that could be created, only a time limit. I had the honour of being selected by [Bright Moments](https://www.brightmoments.io/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) as their artist of the month in March 2023\. What is particular about Bright Moments is their care in giving a physical and human dimension to the projects they publish. INTRICADA was shown in cities around the world: New York, London, Mexico City, Venice Beach, Berlin and Tokyo. From my earliest days in this world I had been telling him about what I was finding. It did not take him long to be tempted himself, and his [fx(hash) profile](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Matthieu%20Segret?ref=art.camilleroux.com) is worth a look. By the summer of 2022, algorithmic art had been taking up a substantial share of our free time for a year, and we talked about it constantly. An idea slowly took shape: what if we pooled our skills into an artistic collaboration? Find an idea, enjoy ourselves, do our best, and see what came out. ![Working together on The Source](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/img_0764-scaled-jpeg.webp) For this project Matthieu wanted to play with textures and try to achieve a physical quality in the render; I wanted to work with mathematical concepts. ![A brainstorming session with Matthieu](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/image-10.webp) A brainstorming session with Matthieu That was the start of months of thinking, brainstorming, trials, code, debugging, doubt and joy. After a few months we found our through-line: to represent water abstractly, in its various forms, with coloured reflections drawn from places around the world. During that period we regularly rented places to work together, sometimes by the sea or a river, for the inspiration. We have already told [the story of how the project came together](https://immutablecollective.art/writing/the-source-building-process-from-start-to-finish/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) in detail, so let me jump forward a few months. By early 2023 we were very happy with what we had. It was almost certainly the best project either of us had made. Being two, and spending that much time on it, let us work every detail. We had a project, a name and a presentation deck. Now we had to find somewhere to publish it. We pitched it to several platforms, including the ones I had been dreaming about for a while. ![An edition of The Source](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/53198944811d24dd80e94808dbbe9662530092b9009dc03ceaef1e6a46c5.webp) In early May the news came: gm.studio wanted to publish it. What is particular about gm.studio is that the curation panel does not know the artist's name. It makes for a fairer and more inclusive selection, based on the project alone. We love the platform and we love their selection. And to top it off, it was the first time a project had been selected unanimously by the panel. We were more than delighted, and we signed without hesitation. [The Source](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/the-source/) came out on gm.studio on 31 July 2023\. I will let you admire the teaser they made for the occasion. > Introducing 'The Source', by [@camillerouxart](https://x.com/camillerouxart?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=art.camilleroux.com) & [@MatthieuArt](https://x.com/MatthieuArt?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=art.camilleroux.com) > > Coming July 31st to gm. studio [pic.twitter.com/H4QZFLAVX7](https://t.co/H4QZFLAVX7?ref=art.camilleroux.com) > > — gm.studio (@gmDAOstudio) [July 14, 2023](https://x.com/gmDAOstudio/status/1679877306981007360?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=art.camilleroux.com) **More on The Source** - [Project page](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/the-source/) - [The project on gm.studio](https://www.gmstudio.art/collections/the-source?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - [The story behind The Source](https://immutablecollective.art/writing/the-story-behind-the-source/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - [Episode of the NFT Morning podcast](https://www.nftmorning.com/p/533-camille-roux-and-matthieu-segret?ref=art.camilleroux.com) (in French) ## The Destination, at Bright Moments Paris The adventure did not stop there. Matthieu and I decided to keep collaborating. Starting from the source code of The Source, we built an entirely new project drawing on the same universe: [The Destination](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/the-destination/). The Destination is an ode to curiosity, a piece about the diversity of paths one can take and the multitude of subjects there are to discover. Each planet or star represents a field to explore. Matthieu and I combined our own enthusiasms to bring the series to life; it celebrates the whole journey towards a goal as much as reaching it. The title is also a nod to our first collaboration. The project took us to Bright Moments Paris, where we got to meet collectors of ours, and artists we admire and talk to regularly. ## Bright Moments Finale, in Venice Bright Moments then invited me to work with them again for their final event, this time on a unique project shown during the 2024 Venice Biennale. The piece is singular in that it combines the work of over sixty artists who had been pivotal to the gallery's history. [Bright Moments Finale (2024)I am honored to have been part of Bright Moments Finale, showcased at the 2024 Venice Biennale. It dropped in November 2024 on gm.scribe. Each edition stands for a moment of a life, a trial that was overcome, a slow but real transformation. Drawn from a health experience that had a heavy impact on my life, hyperacusis and tinnitus, the work is about the human capacity to adapt, to heal and to move forward. Through abstract forms, evolving palettes and a subtle animation, Résilience invites collectors to find, in a given piece, a resonance with their own path. It is a piece about persistence, about rebuilding, and about hope. It is also my first project on Bitcoin. [Résilience (2024)Life is not always a smooth journey. Each of us faces challenges and difficult times. I would also like the chance to show my work, and algorithmic art more broadly, in my own city of Montpellier, or at least in France. I get a lot of pleasure out of introducing people to this world. I have presented algorithmic art through my own path at DevFest Toulouse in 2023, and more recently at MiXiT and MontpellierJS. This minimalistic NFT platform places collectors in the artist’s seat, offering five sliders that shape each final edition. Gradient was created for the Genuary 2025 22th prompt “[Gradients Only](https://genuary.art/prompts?ref=art.camilleroux.com#jan22)” proposed by Melissa Wiederrecht. It also presented a perfect opportunity to revive a project that had been on the shelf for over a year and a half, infusing it with fresh energy and renewed vision. Gradient relies on the mesmerizing interplay of colors and shapes that remain visually still, yet full of depth and possibility. ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/Capture-d-e-cran-2025-01-06-a--02.11.35.webp) The viewer is free to linger on each composition’s inherent qualities. Subtle changes in line thickness, color blending, and layered shapes create a world of detail—an invitation to slow down, observe, and contemplate how gradients can come alive in a static image. ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/Iso-m0.0.836-m1.0.486-m2.0.817-m3.0.44-m4.0.314.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/Iso-m0.0.284-m1.0.823-m2.0.405-m3.0.472-m4.0.406.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/Iso-m0.0.188-m1.0.677-m2.0.56-m3.0.465-m4.0.313.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/Iso-m0.0.589-m1.0.555-m2.0.239-m3.0.132-m4.0.108.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/Iso-m0.0.622-m1.0.981-m2.0.76-m3.0.117-m4.0.639.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/Iso-m0.0.686-m1.0.107-m2.0.819-m3.0.829-m4.0.878.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/Iso-m0.0.188-m1.0.228-m2.0.226-m3.0.079-m4.0.542.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/Iso-m0.0.579-m1.0.317-m2.0.216-m3.0.55-m4.0.896.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/Iso-m0.0.736-m1.0.9-m2.0.681-m3.0.848-m4.0.743.webp) ## Multiple Approaches to Gradients I explored the “Only Gradients” theme in several ways: - **Complex Color Blending**: Vibrant palettes that flow seamlessly into one another. - **Brightness Gradients**: Line thickness varies to create light-to-dark effects. - **Slider-Driven Variations**: Each of the five sliders opens a new dimension of possibility, introducing fresh shapes, textures, and hidden features. --- ## Layers & Isolines This artwork is built on three layers, each defined by calculated isolines—like topographical lines mapping out geometric forms. Every layer can be tweaked with different parameters (color shifts, thickness adjustments, and line-color changes), enabling a broad range of final results. Depending on the specific settings, some layers may become more visually prominent than others, highlighting the interplay between them. ## Collector Experience As a collector, you shape the final piece by manipulating five interactive sliders: 1. **Seed** This slider defines a wide range of random values—sometimes even enabling hidden features like symmetry or inverted colors if fortune smiles upon you. 2. **First Isoline Shape** As you move the slider, you’ll cycle from 1 to 4 base forms (circles, noise patterns, lines, crosses, triangles, squares...). The further you go, the more complex your primary layer becomes. 3. **Second Isoline Shape** Similar shapes or starkly contrasting ones—you decide. The second isoline layer can blend seamlessly or stand out boldly against the first. 4. **Isoline Thickness** How deep do you want your lines to be? This slider adjusts the thickness of all three layers, creating gradients of brightness and ensuring each edition has its own visual density. 5. **Color Palettes** 1. **First Half:** Simple, single-color palettes paired with a black-to-white gradient—clean, minimal, and elegant. 2. **Second Half:** Divided into three tiers, more complex than the last. In the first tier, the palette affects the first isoline layer. In the second tier, it focuses on the second layer, and in the third, it brings in a kaleidoscope of richer, more intricate hues for the third layer. With just a few slider movements, you can create strikingly different editions. ## Open Edition Gradient will be offered as a free open edition, encouraging everyone to explore and play with the algorithm. There’s no limit to how many editions can be minted while the project remains open. Whether you prefer subtle color transitions or bold shapes, this is a chance to experiment freely and unlock unexpected outcomes. Ready to create your own Gradient? Each of us faces challenges and difficult times. These experiences can unsettle us, cause distress, and test our limits. Resilience is a collection where each edition reflects a distinct slice of life, capturing the essence of challenges faced and obstacles overcome. It's a visual testament to moments of struggle now left behind, a narrative of triumph over adversity. It embodies a passion for design and an effort to master hatching patterns, aiming to create depth and texture that is both visually compelling and emotionally resonant. The journey to create Resilience has been one of both artistic and personal growth, drawing inspiration from the isolines of Signed Distance Functions—akin to contour lines on a map. These mathematical structures add depth to the collection, shaping both its aesthetic and meaning. This project is deeply personal to me. Several years ago, I experienced a life-altering event—a sudden onset of hyperacusis and tinnitus that drastically changed how I interacted with the world. What began as a moment of musical joy turned into a period of profound struggle. One day, during a guitar practice session, a single note of feedback pierced through the amplifier and left me with an intense sensitivity to sound and a constant ringing in my ears. Even the smallest noises became unbearable. The hyperacusis and tinnitus made simple activities, like setting a glass on a table or enjoying social gatherings, incredibly challenging. I felt disconnected from the world and withdrew into isolation, believing this would be my reality forever. However, over the years, I began to heal. Slowly but surely, I started reclaiming parts of my life that I thought were lost—seeing friends, going to restaurants, even enjoying live music once again. The Covid-19 pandemic, oddly enough, provided a perverse kind of solace, giving me the quiet I needed to heal. My journey back to a sense of normalcy was gradual and unpredictable, but every small victory brought hope. The experience was a powerful lesson in resilience—how we adapt, how we rebuild, and how we move forward, even under the weight of invisible burdens. Resilience represents more than just artistic expression. It carries deep personal meaning and stands as a tribute to the resilience we all possess—a message of hope and positivity for the future. The abstract forms in each edition are a reflection of my personal journey through these challenges—a way of illustrating how life’s path can be disrupted but ultimately can emerge whole again. This project would not have been possible without the support of family, friends, and the incredible collectors who inspire. The creation of Resilience involved a lot of research, trials, and setbacks, but also moments of discovery and joy. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who believed in and encouraged throughout this journey. ## **Animation** The animation in Resilience is designed to embody the concept of gradual transformation, much like the process of healing and personal growth. By pressing the spacebar, viewers can observe the slow, deliberate shifts in color and form. This slow evolution is intentional—it allows each edition to subtly change over time, encouraging the viewer to spend extended moments with the piece, much like meditation. The gentle movement of elements reflects how life’s changes are often incremental, almost imperceptible, yet undeniably transformative when viewed over a longer span. This evolving quality is a reminder of how resilience is built—not in grand, sudden gestures, but in small, steady steps forward. 0:00 /0:24 1× ## Traits | Traits | Options | | -------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | **Lives** | 1, 2, 3 | | **Event Shape** | Circle, Triangle, Square, Spike, Line, Circle (Annular), Square (Annular), Square (Annular) | | **Event Type** | None, Sliced, Sliced & Warped, Pixelated, Pixelated & Warped, Enlarged, Shrunk, Layer Shifted, Event-Specific Slicing | | **Events** | 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 | | **Palette Tint** | #7e0000, #7e1043, #7e4310, #716b28, #000000 | | **Palette Tint Intensity** | 0 - 0.35 | | **Original Palette** | Classic, Blaze, Harvest, Resolve, Courage, Promise, Dusk, Mystic, Vigor, Perseverance, Rebirth, Bloom, Strength, Horizon, Calm | | **Shuffled Palette** | Yes, No | | **Pattern** | Circles, Lines, Sines, Hills, Herringbone, Polygons | | **Margin Rule** | Standard, Strict, Alternating, Strict (inverted), Standard (inverted) | | **Dark Paper** | Yes, No | | **Margin** | Small, Medium, Large | | **Lines** | 0, 1, 2, 1 all around, 2 all around, 1 inside, 2 inside | ## Infos - 150 editions - Publication date: November 18th, 2024 to [gm.scribe](https://www.gmscribe.art/collections/resilience/collection?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - Credits: [glsl-noise](https://github.com/hughsk/glsl-noise?ref=art.camilleroux.com), [glsl-random](https://github.com/mattdesl/glsl-random?ref=art.camilleroux.com), [glsl-aastep](https://github.com/stackgl/glsl-aastep?ref=art.camilleroux.com), [fx(stdio)](https://altesc.art/stdio?ref=art.camilleroux.com), [SDF code snippets from Inigo Quilez](https://iquilezles.org/articles/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) ## Links - [gm.scribe](https://www.gmscribe.art/collections/resilience?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - [Magic Eden](https://magiceden.io/ordinals/marketplace/resilience?ref=art.camilleroux.com) ## Explore the project [ Résilience @ gm.scribe ](https://www.gmscribe.art/collections/resilience?ref=art.camilleroux.com) ### 30 Lessons from 3+ Years as a Generative Artist URL: https://art.camilleroux.com/writing/30-lessons-from-3-years-as-a-generative-artist/ Last updated: 2026-08-15T14:04:22.000Z - There are many reasons to love a piece of art. - The price of an artwork often doesn't reflect the effort or difficulty. - The market is unfair. - Platforms have their own tastes, which are not universal. - Collectors have their own tastes, which are not universal. - Artists have their own tastes, which are not universal. - Timing can make or break a project. - A project's success can vary significantly depending on the platform on which it is posted. - Social media engagement can help, but it's not a guarantee. - There's always a counterexample to any advice. - Even respected people can give contradictory advice. - Luck plays a significant role in success. - Networking is key. - Progress is not always linear. - Consistency builds momentum. - Context matters for perception. - Your personal brand matters. - The emotional journey is real. - Supporting others helps you grow too. - Patience pays off. - Value your singularity. - Rest is productive. - Celebrate small wins. - Experiment often. - Jealousy or frustration brings nothing positive. - Embrace imperfection. - Learn to say no. - Feedback is a tool, not a verdict. - Trust yourself. - Focus on having fun. ### Bright Moments Finale URL: https://art.camilleroux.com/work/bright-moments-finale/ Last updated: 2026-08-15T13:42:16.000Z ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/1c66f03ff69bafaf4229d2e184cfc7f5-1.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/5bc6302ce4498c0dddf1725cbd55abfd.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/900b6d8ae4c5f449630590fb081a931c-1.webp) I am honored to have been part of Bright Moments Finale, showcased at the 2024 Venice Biennale. We focused on creating a detailed, organic, and realistic texture. The final result is a carefully designed texture that enhances the authenticity of each piece in the series, demonstrating the potential of digital art to evoke the feel of traditional mediums. ### Animation The animated building process in The Source is designed to offer a reinterpretation of a timelapse of the painting process, providing a satisfying and visually engaging experience. This animation enhances the overall experience by capturing the essence of artistic creation and connecting viewers to the dynamic transformation from a blank canvas to a fully-realized work of art. ### Traits The project includes 17 color palettes, each inspired by and named after a famous river from around the world. This homage to natural waterways imbues each piece with a sense of place and connection to the environment. Additionally, the project incorporates 14 different water states, such as "agitated," "wavy," and "cascading." This immersive experience allowed the artists to draw inspiration directly from the beauty and movement of water while coding and refining the project. Matthieu, who enjoys painting with watercolor and has a connection to the physical side of art, and Camille, who is fascinated by mathematics and shaders, have combined their passions to bring this series to life. ### Print From the very beginning, our goal has been to ensure that the printed versions of The Source exhibit a realistic appearance. After numerous tests and experiments, we have achieved print results that have impressed even experienced watercolor artists. We highly value the physical dimension of generative art. We'd be delighted if prints of The Source were to take place in apartments, exhibitions, museums... and if viewers were to enjoy them as much as we do. To this end, we've made sure that you can print your pieces in the best possible conditions (see insert below). Finally, once the drop has passed, we'll be launching a premium-quality print offer, with certificate of authenticity, for collectors, for a rendering faithful to our vision. 💡 The Source should be printed with a fine art printer (like the Epson P900) on Hahnemühle German Etching 310 g/m² paper with a minimum resolution of 300dpi. Press the p key for export dedicated to print (no paper texture and enhanced black contrast). We recommend increasing saturation by 10%. ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/IMG_0781-1.webp) ## Posts about The Source - [The Source page on gm.studio](https://www.gmstudio.art/collections/the-source?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - [The story behind The Source](https://immutablecollective.art/writing/the-story-behind-the-source/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - [The Source Contest 🚀](https://immutablecollective.art/writing/the-source-contest/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - [The Source: Building process from start to finish](https://immutablecollective.art/writing/the-source-building-process-from-start-to-finish/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - [11 Tech facts about The Source](https://immutablecollective.art/writing/11-tech-facts-about-the-source/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) ## Teaser > Introducing 'The Source', by [@camillerouxart](https://twitter.com/camillerouxart?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=art.camilleroux.com) & [@MatthieuArt](https://twitter.com/MatthieuArt?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=art.camilleroux.com) > > Coming July 31st to gm. studio [pic.twitter.com/H4QZFLAVX7](https://t.co/H4QZFLAVX7?ref=art.camilleroux.com) > > — gm.studio (@gmdaostudio) [July 14, 2023](https://twitter.com/gmdaostudio/status/1679877306981007360?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=art.camilleroux.com) ## Infos - 300 editions - Publication date: July 31st to [gm.studio](https://www.gmstudio.art/collections/the-source?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - 5% of proceeds will be donated to the [Oceana](https://oceana.org/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) charity via [Endaoment](https://app.endaoment.org/orgs/51-0401308?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - Authors: [Camille Roux](https://immutablecollective.art/camille-roux/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) and [Matthieu Segret](https://immutablecollective.art/matthieu-segret/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - Credits: [glsl-noise](https://github.com/hughsk/glsl-noise?ref=art.camilleroux.com), [glsl-random](https://github.com/mattdesl/glsl-random?ref=art.camilleroux.com), [glsl-hsl2rgb](https://github.com/Jam3/glsl-hsl2rgb?ref=art.camilleroux.com), [glsl-aastep](https://github.com/stackgl/glsl-aastep?ref=art.camilleroux.com), [fx(stdio)](https://altesc.art/stdio?ref=art.camilleroux.com), [SDF code snippets from Inigo Quilez](https://iquilezles.org/articles/?ref=art.camilleroux.com) ## Marketplaces - [OpenSea](https://opensea.io/collection/the-source-by-camille-roux-x-matthieu-segret?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - [Artacle](https://artacle.io/project/the-source-by-camille-roux-x-matthieu-segret?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - [Sansa](https://sansa.xyz/collections/64c54be9eff44dfa52ff33b6?ref=art.camilleroux.com) ## Watch the project [ The Source @ gm. studio ](https://www.gmstudio.art/collections/the-source?ref=art.camilleroux.com) ### INTRICADA URL: https://art.camilleroux.com/work/intricada/ Last updated: 2026-08-15T13:42:17.000Z Intricada means ‘interlaced’ in Old Occitan, a Romance language spoken in the south of France. I’ve designed Intricada like a simulation, giving initial conditions and see what comes out of it. Each piece is the result of thousands of unpredictable consequences. ### Variation This collection includes a very large number of possible variations. Some properties are specific to the agents and allow to define their rules, colors, number of children, angle… Many parameters influence the initial position and direction of the agents, palettes (more than 30)… Each combinaison creates a very unique output. ### From far and near From a distance, an Intricada piece may look like intersecting circles, geometric patterns, confetti, a perspective design... When you get closer, you can see that these shapes are composed of multitudes of agent trajectories. Finally, if we get even closer, we can see that these trajectories are composed of points (several hundreds of thousands per output). ### Building animation Intricada is based on a main concept: autonomous agents. When you watch the rendering of an Intricada piece, you can enjoy the very satisfying building animation. It also helps to understand how each piece is made. First, you see the main agents being born, then see them move according to the rule they have been assigned, have children from time to time or stop if they meet the path of another agent. 0:00 /0:13 1× ### Features Here is an explanation of the different features of Intricada: - **Palette**: Unsurprisingly, this is the color palette. By the way, you'll recognize some palettes of previous projects: Classic (used on my [fxhash projects](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Camille%20Roux/creations?ref=art.camilleroux.com)), some Rainbow (used on [Folradura](https://immutablecollective.art/work/folradura/?ref=art.camilleroux.com))... - **Palette Subset**: This defines the subset of colors that will be used. - **Rule**:This define how the agents move (Sine, Rotation, Spiral or None) - **Colors Mode**: This defines are the colors are set to agents. - **Agent Count**: Main agents always appear in group. This defines how many agents there are per group. - **Symmetric Agents**: If true, all agents have a symmetric agent that go in the opposite way. - **Recursion Level**: This defines which level of agents can have children. - **Circle Mode**: Main agents always born in group distributed around a point. Theses "groups" of groups can be them self distributed around a point (Circle) or in grid (Grid). - **Circle Count**: If the Circle Mode is Circle, this represent the number the number of repetition around the center. ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/INTRICADA-2.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/INTRICADA-11.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/INTRICADA-9.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/INTRICADA-18.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/INTRICADA-20.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/INTRICADA-35.webp) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/INTRICADA-34.webp) Intricada @ Bright Moments NY, on the 3.24.23\. Everything else I make is [long-form](https://art.camilleroux.com/writing/algorithmic-art-from-discovery-to-a-drop/). I write a generator, hand it to a platform, and it runs once for each collector, so that nobody, myself included, knows what any given edition will look like until it exists. These two pieces work the other way round. The generator still does the drawing, but then I rendered hundreds of outputs and chose one. The algorithm proposes; for once, I disposed. That inversion is the whole interest of them for me. In a long-form series I am responsible for the range of what can happen and have to accept everything inside it, which means designing a space where even the unlucky corners are worth owning. Choosing a single output is a different discipline, closer to photography, where the frame you keep is the work and the hundreds you discard are just the cost of getting there. Both pieces carry the seed they were generated from, so the exact run that produced them stays recoverable. ## Le calme après la tempête Generated on 27 May 2022, in p5.js. It is drawn from more than 500,000 vectors and points, placed with a mix of randomness, noise and physics rules, the same family of tools as [ARTERIA](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/arteria/) and [FOLRADURA](https://art.camilleroux.com/work/folradura/), pushed toward a single image rather than a range of them. The name is a deliberate echo of the French Touch, the wave of French electronic music producers that broke internationally in the mid-1990s. The argument is that something comparable is happening with cryptoart: artists stepping around the traditional gatekeepers of the art world, and a recognisably French contribution to it. The stated ambition is to build France's standing on that scene. The concept comes from Benoît Couty, known as BnoiitC, an early cryptoart collector and the founder of the Museum of Crypto Art. The initiative is run by 0x4rt. The launch exhibition ran from **14 June to 20 September 2022** and brought together seventeen artists: Abdoulaye Barry, Neil Beloufa, Booyasan, Stephan Breuer, CEGZ.project, CryptoClay, Etienne de Crécy, FelixFelixFelix, Hermine Bourdin, Kibo, LuluxXX, Nahiko, myself, Teto, Touky333, Urban Drone and Xerak. That Etienne de Crécy, one of the producers of the original French Touch, was in the same selection was a nice piece of symmetry. The curators were BnoiitC; Albertine Meunier, artist and NFT collector, who has been working on the poetics of networks since 1998 and advises Avant Galerie Vossen on digital art; Arthemort, a graduate of the Sotheby's Institute of Art; Lucie-Eleonore Riveron, CEO and co-founder of the auction house FauveParis; G4SP4RD, an early collector and NFT project lead at Ledger; and Jean-Michel Pailhon, a Paris gallerist and collector of street art and NFT photography. Being chosen for the space was the first time my work had been selected by people from the traditional art world, and I am proud of it. I was also very glad to be showing alongside artists of that standing. ## Infos - 2 unique works (1/1), on Ethereum - *Le calme après la tempête*: generated 27/05/2022, 4000 × 4000 - *À fleur de peau*: generated 23/09/2022, 2666 × 4000 - Written in JavaScript with p5.js - Launch exhibition: 14 June to 20 September 2022 ## Watch the project [Le calme après la tempêteDrawn with more than 500k vectors and points using random, noise algorithms, and physics rules. Folradura plays with the balance between order and chaos. ### Aspect The complexity of this work ends up creating impressions of volumes, shadows and lights, photography... ### Variation This collection includes a very large number of possible variations. Some of these properties define the colors and how they are set. Other properties are specific to the local modifiers and allow to define their effects, their position, their intensity, their modulations, their synchronisation... Artèria means artery in Old Occitan, a Romance language spoken in the south of France. Agents have a default behavior: they go straight forward, have children, die when they meet the trajectory of another agent... The system start dozens of random initial parameters: recursion level, agents position and size, colors, birth angle and distribution... The possibilities are endless. Finally, some local rules can be applied (ex: all the agents in the upper half rotate slowly). The output is the result of the initial parameters, interactions between agents and local rules. ## Infos - Editions: 333 - Publication date: 05/05/2022 ### Making Of [ARTERIA - The Making OfARTERIA is a long-form generative series released on fxhash in May 2022\. As far as I know it is the largest artistic collaboration the platform has seen. The rule was simple enough to state in a sentence. I published the code that lays out the tiles of a bridge, and gave anyone who wanted to join two weeks to write their own way of drawing them. One constraint only: respect the position of each tile. Everything else, the material, the weather, the light, whether it is a bridge at all by the end, was theirs. What I like most about the result is that no edition belongs to a single artist. Every iteration carries **all** twenty-six styles. One of them is drawn at mint and named in the features, and that is the one you see first, but clicking or tapping the image cycles through the rest, in the order listed below. Press `s` to save a screenshot of whatever you are looking at. The project came out of impatience. I had meant to do a lot of collaborations that year with fxhash artists whose work I admired, and it kept not happening: there are only so many hours, and I liked too many artists. One morning I woke up with the obvious shortcut, which was to collaborate with all of them at once. The fxhash contract cannot handle collaborations yet, so everything here is arranged by hand rather than by the platform. It says something about that scene, too. There is a great deal of mutual help and generosity between generative artists on fxhash, and a bridge is not a bad figure for it. Writing a style also pushed several of the participants to develop their code outside their usual areas of interest. The whole thing stays open on GitHub. ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement--3-.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement--2-.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement--1-.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/1800--3-.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/1800.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/1800--1-.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/1800--2-.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement--4-.png) ## Included styles - **Text-to-Bridge (TTB)** by [Ada Ada Ada](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Ada%20Ada%20Ada?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Blest Path** by [Anaglyphic](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/anaglyphic?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **The Old Woody Dock** by [Aqw\_Zert](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Aqw%5FZert?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Bridge-Tunnel** by [Laurent Houdard](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Laurent%20Houdard?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Evaporating** by [Camille Roux](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Camille%20Roux?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Buildings** by [Camille Roux](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Camille%20Roux?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **TGH Bridge** by [David Esq](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/David%20Esq?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Citadel** by [devnull](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/devnull?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Einstein–Rosen** by [Elsif](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/elsif?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Path through the city** by [Estienne](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Estienne?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **starry night//glitchy night** by [frederative](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/frederative?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Blackboard** by [Generative Pen](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Generative%20Pen?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Mozaik** by [Gorik](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Gorik?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Devour** by [grosgg](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/grosgg?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **burning bridges** by [jeres](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/jeres?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Space Disco Dancefloor** by [Julien Labat](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/julabat?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **/nt/r/t///a/** by [lunarean](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/lunarean?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Nara** by [Makio64](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Makio64?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Bifrost** by [mandyBrigwell](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/mandybrigwell?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Rain under the stars** by [Matt Circles](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Matthieu%20Segret?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Esoteric Oasis** by [Nick Dima](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Nick%20Dima?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Street Lights** by [phil\_osophie](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/phil%5Fosophie?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Rise** by [Robin Metcalfe](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Robin?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Flower Bridge** by [RVig](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/rvig?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **here comes the sun** by [shuhblam](https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/shuhblam?ref=art.camilleroux.com) - **Into another world** by [Claus O. It is my first release, and the 85th project published on the platform. It is also my first long-form project. Until then I had been publishing finished videos and images on Hic Et Nunc. fx(hash) changed that completely, and for me it was a genuine revolution: what goes on the blockchain is the code itself rather than the image or the video it produces. That is what made writing the work as code finally take on its full meaning. Each edition is a loop that never settles. A set of waves, a distribution and a noise field that disturbs them build the water; above it, a band of sky whose height changes from one edition to the next. The sea can be calm, noisy or stormy, and the waves can be drawn as curves, as straight lines or as stacked rectangles. 0:00 /0:13 1× ## Features - 3 sea states: calm, noisy, stormy - 3 wave forms: curve, line, rectangle - 3 wave distributions: gaussian, linear, random - Between 3 and 24 waves per edition - Wave resolution from 4 to 36 - 3 stroke weights, and a wave offset divider from 1 to 4 - A noise scale divider spanning a wide range, from tight ripples to long swells - 4 sky sizes - 3 frames: none, rectangular, circular - 6 animation speeds ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement--5-.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement--9-.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement--8-.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement--7-.png) ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement--6-.png) ## Infos - Editions: 150 - Publication date: 15/11/2021 - First release, and the 85th project on fxhash ![](https://art.camilleroux.com/content/images/2026/08/te--le--chargement--6--1.png) [Watch the project](https://www.fxhash.xyz/generative/85?ref=art.camilleroux.com)
